Manderley is a wonderful place to get away. I would go to any extent to become an owner of a home like this. The full staff was helpful and would wait on you hand and foot. In the morning, I enjoyed sitting in the morning room, writing letters to friends and family in such a peaceful surrounding. The only complaint I have is about the boathouse…I don’t enjoy the water that much and didn’t get much use out of it. But, it would be great for someone who wants to spend time on the water. My favorite staff member was Mrs. Danvers. She would bend over backwards for me, making sure my stay at Manderley was everything I expected. Beautiful gardens and great dining, I recommend this Inn for almost everyone who is looking to get away for a while!

The gardens at Manderley are exquisite! If you get a room on the east wing, you will have the pleasure of over looking the rose gardens. The gardens are well kempt and always looking their finest. One day, my husband and I took a stroll in the garden and the experience was amazing! The romantic feel, filled with the scent of fresh roses, is just perfect for couples to experience. Manderley is great for married couples or newlyweds. The Inn is a little more upper class with not many activities for the children, so I do not recommend taking them with you.  The sea surrounds the estate and the beautiful view is evident as far as the eye can see. There is even a cute dog that roams the Inn! He is referred to as Jasper, and is the sweetest dog ever!  If you ever get sick of your husband, you will be able to play with Jasper!

In the beginning of my trip I felt awkward and out of place. It is strange bossing around other people, when you used to be bossed around yourself.  After you discover your love for Manderley, you will have no problem fitting right in.  There is great order in this house, and when order is broken, chaos occurs. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served at the same time everyday and a wonderful menu is presented at each meal.  You are able to bathe in the bay if you would like, but for some reason I never saw many people in the water. Looking back on my stay, I am completely in love with Manderley and cannot wait to go back.  I hope it will be soon!

When my boyfriend and I stayed at Manderley we were very disappointed that the boathouse was closed. We are both very water adventurous people and thought a nice boat ride would have been romantic, but it was closed for unknown reasons.  Also, the staff would not tell us why it was closed and it was very strange.  I would see a man walking down by it but never enter it, which was also very strange. Something at Manderley is not right.  The house is quiet and decorated with pictures of a beautiful woman who again was never mentioned by the staff.  I had the feeling that someone was always watching me, which made me feeling very edgy and uncomfortable.  We ended up only staying for three days when we originally booked five. I could no longer stay in that ominous house. Although the nature was very beautiful, I would not return for another stay.

Manderley is a perfect place to stay for the weekend or even the whole week! They have a full time staff that takes care of chores, the garden, and the meals everyday.  The estate is decorated very formally and would be a good place to hold a formal event.  I am on my second marriage, and if this one doesn’t work out, my next marriage will definitely take place at Manderley. I would love to live here and run the Inn if I had the opportunity. I prefer to stay on the east wing, but the west wing is just as beautiful. I believe the west wing is less expensive for some reason, but it is worth spending a couple extra dollars to smell the scent of roses in the morning and for the amazing view over looking the gardens.
